                            PLA is 10 free

What is a 10 free Gel polish?

When you see the word “free” regarding nail polish, it refers to what has been removed from that nail polish. Many polishes started out being 3-free, 5-free, or 7-free, meaning that 3, 5, or 7 different chemicals were no longer used in their ingredients. Now, the best you will find is 10-free nail polish!

10 Free Nail Polish Ingredients – How Does It Differ From Other Polishes?

You won’t find many noticeable differences between traditional polishes and 10-free polishes. They tend to be quite similar in consistency and longevity, fortunately.

Most, if not all, nail polishes are at least 3 or 5-free these days. So when you transition to a 10-free brand, you’re just taking out a few more toxic chemicals, helping you live an even healthier lifestyle!

HEMA and HPMA Free Polishes

The PLA Gel Polishes do not include HEMA, which is a tiny monomer used to polymerize gel polishes. However, due to its size, it can easily absorb into the skin and cause allergic reactions. Since our gel polishes are HEMA-free, there is a much lowered risk of reactions or sensitivities!

Vegan and Cruelty Free Free Polishes

Lastly, we are proud to announce that our polishes are all vegan, with zero animal products in our ingredient list. It was important to our team to make sure our nail polish line is completely vegan and cruelty free.

             FINGERNAIL CARE: DO'S

To keep your fingernails looking their best:

  • Keep fingernails dry and clean. This prevents bacteria from growing under your fingernails. Repeated or prolonged contact with water can contribute to split fingernails. Wear cotton-lined rubber gloves when washing dishes, cleaning or using harsh chemicals.

  • Practice good nail hygiene. Use a sharp manicure scissors or clippers. Trim your nails straight across, then round the tips in a gentle curve.

  • Use moisturizer. When you use hand lotion, rub the lotion into your fingernails and cuticles, too.

  • Apply a protective layer. Applying a nail hardener might help strengthen nails.

  • Ask your doctor about biotin. Some research suggests that the nutritional supplement biotin might help strengthen weak or brittle fingernails.

         FINGERNAIL CARE: DONT'S

To prevent nail damage, don't:

  • Bite your fingernails or pick at your cuticles. These habits can damage the nail bed. Even a minor cut alongside your fingernail can allow bacteria or fungi to enter and cause an infection.

  • Pull off hangnails. You might rip live tissue along with the hangnail. Instead, carefully clip off hangnails.

  • Use harsh nail care products. Limit your use of nail polish remover. When using nail polish remover, opt for an acetone-free formula.

  • Ignore problems. If you have a nail problem that doesn't seem to go away on its own or is associated with other signs and symptoms, consult your doctor or dermatologist for an evaluation.
